President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky visited Sumy State University and had a conversation with students.
The Head of State emphasized that even during the war, many young people continue to study at this university, which means that life goes on, and that is the most important thing.
"Thank you for being in Ukraine and studying here. This is a belief that our heroic warriors defend not only the land, but also lives. This is the land where people live. And you are very important people, because you are the future," the President said, addressing the students.
For life to continue and children to be born in Ukraine, the Head of State believes it is necessary to create safe conditions, especially for their education. This applies also to the regions bordering the aggressor state. Therefore, it is important that kindergartens, schools, and other educational institutions have equipped shelters, and the region is provided with modern air defense systems.
Zelensky also spoke about the work on the return of Ukrainian children illegally deported by Russia. In particular, Ukraine, with the mediation of partner states, is trying to return young Ukrainians who were abducted by Russians in the temporarily occupied territories, given Russian passports and adopted by Russian families.
"Children can be brought back like this, step by step, thanks to our partners. And through victory. If we are stronger, if we win the war, we will definitely return them and abolish the illegal passportization," the President emphasized.
