The Japanese company Yamaha, known for its production of musical instruments, has donated a set of brass instruments to the orchestra of the Odessa Opera and Ballet Theater.
This was announced by the Ambassador of Ukraine to Japan, Serhiy Korsunsky.
The meeting was attended by the president of Yamaha, representatives of the Japanese parliament and government, as well as the Japanese conductor Hirofumi Yoshida.
Korsunsky added that during the meeting, a small concert was held featuring works by Myroslav Skoryk.
Conductor Hirofumi Yoshida has been the principal guest conductor of the Odesa National Academic Opera and Ballet Theater since 2021.
Recently, he launched a fundraising campaign for a Ukrainian orchestra concert in Japan.
The fundraising campaign will run until February 29 on the Readyfor platform. Yoshida plans to raise 10 million yen (approximately $66,000). The funds will be used for the orchestra members' travel expenses, renting the concert venue, and other project-related expenses.
Currently, over 6 million yen (or $41,000) has been raised.
