The formula of peace for the world proposed by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky was discussed by the newly elected President of the Federative Republic of Brazil Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva and First Deputy Prime Minister â Minister of Economy of Ukraine Yuliia Svyrydenko, who headed the Ukrainian delegation during a working visit to Brazil.
The meeting was held on the eve of the inauguration ceremony of Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva.
âOn behalf of Ukraine let me congratulate you on the victory in the presidential elections in Brazil. Ukraine looks forward to active cooperation with Brazil and strengthening of strategic partnership to ensure democracy, peace, security and prosperity in Ukraine, Brazil and the whole world.
Today we are witnessing new geopolitical challenges caused by the unprovoked and unjustified war of aggression of russia against Ukraine. And we are sincerely grateful to the Federative Republic of Brazil for its support in this dramatic time for Ukraine,â Yuliia Svyrydenko said during the meeting.
The head of the Ukrainian delegation informed Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva about the situation in Ukraine and conveyed the formula of peace for the world proposed by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky. As emphasized during the meeting, the world needs inviolable guarantees â security, food, energy, etc., and international law and internationally recognized borders should never be questioned by anyone. Yuliia Svyrydenko expressed hope that Brazil would support the proposed formula, which would be a significant contribution to achieving peace in Ukraine and the world.
The parties also discussed the strengthening of economic cooperation between the countries and Brazilâs participation in the reconstruction of Ukraine.
The inauguration ceremony of the President of the Federative Republic of Brazil begins on January 1, 2023 at 20:00 Kyiv time. Also among events to be held on this day, is a ceremony of welcoming the President and Vice President of the Federative Republic of Brazil by heads and deputy heads of states and governments, ministers of foreign affairs, secretaries general of international organizations.

Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva was elected President of the Federative Republic of Brazil in the national elections on October 30, 2022. Lula da Silva has already headed Brazil for two consecutive terms â in 2003-2011. In December 2009, during Lula da Silvaâs official visit to Ukraine, a number of bilateral agreements were signed, in particular, an Agreement between the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine and the Government of the Federative Republic of Brazil on air transport.
According to the State Statistics Service of Ukraine, in 2021, the volume of bilateral trade increased by 71% compared to 2020 totaling USD 565.8 million. Exports of goods from Ukraine amounted to USD 181.3 million (+182%), imports reached USD 384.5 million (+44%). Ukraine exported to Brazil ferrous metals and their products, plastics, polymeric materials, pharmaceutical products, etc. In the structure of imports from Brazil the top products were sugar and sugar confectionery, ores, slag and ash, as well as tobacco and industrial tobacco substitutes (11.1%).
