International skeleton and bobsleigh competitions for the winter season 2023/2024 will take place without Russia
Russian athletes will not be allowed to participate in international skeleton and bobsleigh competitions for the winter season 2023/2024. This decision was announced by Mykhailo Geraskevych, the President of the All-Ukrainian Bobsleigh and Skeleton Federation.
The decision was made during the congress of the International Bobsleigh and Skeleton Federation.
"The most important news for all Ukrainians - Russians will not be present at international skeleton and bobsleigh competitions in the 2023/2024 season! We put in titanic work last year, continued this work for a whole year, and now we have a good result. Congratulations to everyone on this celebration of sports, where there will be no place for Russian propaganda," he wrote.
Mykhailo Geraskevych also shared that the congress participants offered various programmes of assistance to Ukraine to the Ukrainian team. Additionally, he discussed plans for a future sports project, the aim of which is to help children rehabilitate from the horrors of war.
"Our project, which we started implementing last year, has attracted special attention from our colleagues. It concerns Ukrainian children who have experienced and are experiencing the horrors of war. We now have a team of such children, and we are doing everything possible to enable them to realize themselves in sports and participate in the Winter Youth Olympic Games in 2024 and 2028," Geraskevych added.
