Heads of the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the European Union (EU) countries will today approve the 15th package of sanctions against Russia. They will also discuss the situations in Syria and Georgia.
This was reported by EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice President of the European Commission Kaja Kallas during a conversation with journalists.
As Kallas noted, today the ministers will discuss Syria, Ukraine, and Georgia.
"Regarding Ukraine, foreign ministers will today approve the 15th package of sanctions, which includes (restrictions - ed.) the shadow fleet, sanctions against North Korean officials, as well as against Chinese companies that facilitate this war. This sends a clear message - whoever fuels the continuation of this war will pay a price," she stated.
In particular, responding to journalists' questions about the likelihood of deploying European peacekeepers to Ukraine, Kallas explained that peace must first be achieved before this issue can be raised, but currently, the Kremlin is not seeking peaceful solutions.
"There must first be peace to send peacekeepers. Russia does not want peace, and this is very obvious. If you look at Lavrov's (Sergey Lavrov, Russian Foreign Minister - ed.) interview, for example, with Tucker Carlson (American journalist), they (the Russians) are not stepping back from their goals. So, we cannot discuss this," she noted.
