Head of the Main Intelligence Directorate Kyrylo Budanov expressed the opinion that a ceasefire regime on the front could be achieved by the end of 2025.
This was reported by the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine with reference to an interview of Lieutenant General Kyrylo Budanov with journalist Eynulla Fatullayev.
Key statements:
▪️ "Although the starting positions of the parties are diametrically opposed, I think that this year we will reach a ceasefire regime. How long and effective it will be is another question. I believe this will happen, as the majority of components are in place."
▪️ "Show me one country in the world where the introduction of peacekeepers helped. Nowhere. So, can it be considered a guarantee? Obviously, it is in doubt."
▪️ "What guarantees are – this is a very debatable question. The issue of NATO is very complicated. Does any other format of guarantees exist? I think that there is no such format yet."
▪️ "I definitely am not writing (memoirs, - ed.). I do not plan to write myself; it's too early."
▪️ "There is Trump's general plan, where he said that he wants to stop the war. Most actions of various groups in his administration are aimed at implementing this thesis. Their goal is to stop the war. This does not imply the victory of one side, the defeat of the other, or any other points. This is the reality."
▪️ "The Russian advance is ongoing, the situation at the front is difficult. If anyone says that everything is fine there – don't believe it. To say that everything is fine with the Russians – no."
▪️ "There is no collapse of the front. Tomorrow, the day after tomorrow, in a week, it will not happen."
▪️ "We must not forget that we are a democracy. I know very well what totalitarian regimes are like in various countries. Let there be democracy. That's it; this is unnecessary. These are misanthropic approaches that create not even obedient people, but simply bio-robots. This is not our path. Ukraine is a country of opportunities; this is possible only in a democratic society."
