The film "La Palisiada" became the best film of the Vilnius International Film Festival Kino Pavasaris | Vilnius International Film Festival, receiving a cash prize of 8,000 euros.
"La Palisiada" is Philip Sotnichenko's full-length debut in the genre of post-Soviet noir. The story unfolds in Ukraine in 1996, a few months before the signing of Protocol No. 6 of the European Convention on Human Rights, which allowed for the death penalty's abolition.
In the center of the plot is a forensic psychiatrist whose quiet life changes when he has to take part in the complicated story of the murder of a policeman. The hero begins to doubt the correctness of the law enforcement system when he sees all the lawlessness of conducting judicial experiments on the suspect.
The tape was created by the film companies "VIATEL" and "Modern Ukrainian Cinema". The development of the project was supported by the Ukrainian Cultural Fund, financial support for the production was received from the State Agency of Ukraine for Cinema, and post-production was financed by the Gothenburg Film Fund (Sweden).
Vilnius International Film Festival Kino Pavasaris is a film festival held every March in Vilnius, Lithuania, since 1995. It is the largest film festival in the country in terms of a number of films and audience. This year the festival lasted from March 16 to 26.
