Maersk, the world's largest shipping container line, has announced significant changes to their ocean services to Ukraine by stopping calls to the port of Chornomorsk, from week 33 this year, till further notice, as part of their group activities optimisation.
The last call to port Chornomorsk will be with m/v âJULIUS-Sâ voyage 131N with ETA on the 10th of August.
The Danish group has also assured its shipping services in Ukraine via Yuzhny port (DP World-TIS Container Terminal). Maersk processes every third container that passes through Ukraine.
We are united with Maersk for many years of partnership, but they have never been processed so seriously.
In autumn, it will be 10 years since the first Maersk ship to the pier of the TIS Container Terminal. That container truck was called "Maersk Nottingham" and we met it as a miracle. In 2020, Maersk container turnover in Ukraine amounted to 328 TEU - the first place with a rather tangible breakdown.
Maersk main stream of containers is processed at the DP World-TIS Pivdennyi-244 858 TEU terminal. This is 75 % of all Maersk volume in Ukraine. Very soon there will be 100.
Andrey Stavnitser, Co-Owner of TIS Group of Terminals
Maersk's story began 117 years ago when Meller's father and son bought an old steamer and named it "Svendborg" after his hometown in Denmark. Today, Maersk works in 130 countries. In 2020, the company occupied a share of 16,6 % in the global container transportation market. Maersk owns 668 containers with a total capacity of more than 3,9 million TEU.
