The Gazprom Neftekhim Salavat oil refinery in Bashkortostan was targeted in an overnight attack, according to Ukrainian monitoring channel Exilenova+.
Based on eyewitness photos and videos, Astra confirmed that a fire had broken out in the vicinity of the facility.
The refinery processes up to 10 million tonnes of hydrocarbon feedstock annually and produces more than 150 types of products, including gasoline, diesel fuel, fuel oil, bitumen, polyethylene, styrene and ammonia.

The facility has previously been targeted by Ukrainian drones. The most recent fire following an attack occurred on August 13, while a strike on July 14 forced the refinery to completely suspend oil processing. In 2023, drone attacks damaged the refinery’s primary processing units.
Earlier, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said he had approved a plan for long-range strikes against Russia in October. He emphasised that Kyiv would respond proportionately to Russian attacks, stating that if Moscow targets Ukraine’s civilian infrastructure, Ukrainian forces would strike corresponding facilities in Russia.
