The Ukrainian design and architecture studio MAKHNO has won the prestigious Red Dot Award 2024 for their innovative project QUADROPOD, which combines a modern eco-approach to spatial design with traditional Ukrainian craftsmanship. This award is annually presented by the Design Center of North Rhine-Westphalia in Essen, Germany, for exceptional quality and outstanding achievements in design.
QUADROPOD is a ceramic block that can be used to create various decorative elements based on a modular principle. Its modular design ensures exceptional structural stability and allows for the construction of 3D walls, art shelves, or other decorative and architectural objects using environmentally friendly "living clay."
"The Red Dot Award is often called the 'Oscar for designers,' as it is one of the highest honors in the field. This is our studio's third recognition. This time, Serhii Makhno and the team have proposed a radically new aesthetic and highly ecological approach to spatial design," said representatives of MAKHNO studio.
"We are reinterpreting millennia-old Ukrainian techniques to show the world something it has not seen before," added Serhii Makhno, the studio's founder.
The award ceremony for the winners of the Red Dot Award 2024 will take place in October in Singapore, where the Ukrainian innovative block, QUADROPOD, will be exhibited at the Red Dot Design Museum.
