Fisheries and aquaculture play a significant role in the economy of Ukraine. Inland fisheries are especially significant. Currently only 37% of inland waters are utilized by commercial fisheries, and there is a much greater potential for inland fisheries production. Similarly, aquaculture has tremendous potential for expansion in this resource rich nation. Compared to last year, not only the volume of export changed, but also markets that import the product. In 2018, 60% of exports were to CIS countries. In 2019, 66% of frozen fish was exported to European countries.

Carp is a large freshwater fish. There are a few kinds of carp: Scaly Carp, Mirror Carp, Crucian Carp, Grass Carp, etc. The Carp’s meat has dietary properties; it is white and restorative, delicious, suitable for all types of culinary preparation.

The pond farm of “Odessa Sturgeon Breading Complex” is located in an ecological zone on the territory of the Danube Biosphere Reserve. All fish species are reared in conditions close to wild nature, in the running water of the Danube River and on a natural food base.

Crucian carp (Carassius) is a medium-sized fish that belongs to the family of Cyprinidae.

It is considered to be the best-tasting pan fish.

Grass carp (White Amur)

Grass carp / White Amur (Ctenopharyngodon idella Val.) belongs to the family of Cyprinidae. Grass carp eats mainly aquatic plants and that is why this fish almost does not contain fat and is considered to be very healthy.

One hundred grams of cooked fish contains approximately 120 calories.
