Ukrainian defence technology company Frontline Robotics has unveiled Frodo, a new six-wheeled unmanned ground vehicle designed for logistics, evacuation and strike missions.
The platform marks the company’s expansion from aerial systems into ground robotics as it works towards a broader ecosystem in which different unmanned systems can operate together.
Frodo can reach speeds of up to 40 km/h and has a maximum range of 150 kilometres. Its effective payload is up to 200 kg, while the maximum carrying capacity reaches 400 kg, allowing it to transport ammunition and equipment or support casualty evacuation.
The vehicle uses a 6x6 chassis with adaptive independent suspension and adjustable ground clearance of 170–330 mm. According to Frontline Robotics, its low centre of gravity and suspension are designed to maintain stability and mobility across difficult terrain, including holes, rocks and fallen trees.
The company says Frodo can remain mobile even after losing one wheel. Its batteries can also be rapidly replaced by a single operator, allowing the platform to return to operation without a large support team.
Frontline Robotics developed Frodo as a modular system that can be configured for different missions. Alongside logistics and evacuation, it can serve as a mobile platform for weapon systems.
Frodo can be integrated with Frontline Robotics’ Buria robotic turret to create a mobile fire-support system. The platform can also support combat modules equipped with an automatic grenade launcher or heavy machine gun.
Several communication systems are supported, including Starlink, LTE, Silvus, ELRS and TBS. Frodo is equipped with two day/night cameras, while two thermal imaging cameras can be added depending on the configuration.
Frontline Robotics says the UGV has already been codified, and the company is training operators to use the system.
The development of Frodo was accelerated by cooperation with an engineering team with previous experience in unmanned ground vehicles, according to the company.
“For Frontline Robotics, the development of UGVs is a strategic step towards building a multi-domain robotic ecosystem,” CEO Yevhenii Tretiak said. “We are expanding the company from the aerial domain into the ground domain, creating interconnected robotic solutions for the modern battlefield.”
Tretiak said the company sees integrated robotic systems as a way to reduce the need for personnel to enter high-risk areas while increasing the speed and resilience of military operations.
