On 24 February 2022, Russia launched an unprovoked full-scale invasion of Ukraine. This aggression plunged a country of 41 million people into the horrors of war: shelling, artillery strikes, tank invasions, aerial attacks on civilian targets, blockades, humanitarian crises, wholesale destruction of cities, towns and villages, millions of displaced people, plundering, rape, and abduction, as well as cyberwarfare and media manipulation, which aim to put under quesiton the nature of reality itself. Must Establish Reality brings together the works of six Ukrainian artists united in their resistance against Russia's barbaric imperialism -- on Ukrainian soil and in the space of global narrative formation.
Owing to the unfolding war and humanitarian crisis in Ukraine as a result of Russiaâs unprovoked full-scale invasion of Ukraine on 24 February 2022, IZOLYATSIA is shifting all of its organizational efforts towards our countryâs resistance against the aggressor and supporting Ukrainians through these tragic times.
The IZOLYATSIA art platform, together with the American organization Art At A Time Like This opened the online exhibition Must Establish Reality: Ukrainian Artists under Siege, which presents the works of Ukrainian artists on the theme of a full-scale war with Russia. Among the authors: Serhii Zakharov, Oleksa Mann, Dana Kavelina, Anton Karyuk, Kateryna Lisovenko and Alevtyna Kahidze.
To this extent, from 1 March 2022, IZOLYATSIA is directing all activities towards humanitarian aid and support of Ukrainians in need. Our most immediate priorities are:
- Provision of humanitarian aid to organizations and self-organized individuals and networks operating across the whole of Ukraine;
- Support for internally displaced Ukrainians and those seeking refuge abroad.
