The National Bank of Ukraine and Superhumans Center are launching their annual charity campaign #SuperCoins. The #SuperCoins campaign is primarily aimed at children and youth who have already demonstrated their involvement in previous charity events organized by the National Bank. Last year, over 2,500 educational institutions from all over Ukraine joined this important cause. At the same time, the "#SuperCoins" charity campaign is not only about raising funds but also about promoting a culture of charity, which is a vital part of financial culture.

For the next three months—from September 9 to November 29, 2024—a nationwide coin collection will be held, involving coins with denominations of 10 and 50 kopecks and 1, 2, 5, and 10 hryvnias. The collected funds will be allocated to support Ukrainian military personnel affected by the conflict.

"Ordinary coins that we handle daily can become a life-saving support for those in need and help restore superpowers to our heroes. I appeal to youth, educators, and all citizens: support Ukrainian soldiers who have lost limbs and make their adaptation easier. Every collected coin can improve the lives of those who have given part of themselves for Ukraine. Join the fundraising and together we can do good!" said Oleksii Shaban, Deputy Head of the National Bank.

“We are all very inspired by the National Bank’s idea, as we were once children collecting coins for a special cause. Times have changed. Now, children’s collections are also dedicated to a special cause. But it's not about dreams of a bicycle or a new toy, but about a good deed. We are happy to work together with the youth and the National Bank to literally turn money into steel limbs for our defenders. This story is about much more than just collecting. It's about cultivating the skill of helping and contributing to a common cause from a young age. Besides the collection, we will engage schools in discussions with children on how to live with people with war injuries: informing and shaping a healthy response to people with prosthetic limbs and facial scars. Thus, this project has a double impact,” commented Olga Rudneva, CEO of Superhumans Center.

How to join the initiative?

To participate in the campaign, collect coins (with denominations of 10, 50 kopecks and 1, 2, 5, and 10 hryvnias) and bring them to the nearest partner bank branch from September 9 to November 29, 2024. The bank will transfer the collected funds to the Superhumans Center fund. Teams and individuals can also join the campaign and collect coins in educational institutions, businesses, organizations, and other establishments. This allows all concerned citizens to participate in fundraising and support our heroes. The campaign’s partner banks are PrivatBank, Oschadbank, and PUMB. A special information portal lists the addresses of all partner bank branches where citizens can deposit collected coins into the "Superhumans Center" fund, as well as detailed information about participation conditions and activities for educational institutions. Specifically, the campaign will include educational activities for schools, such as:

  • Educational talks with children titled "Respect and Understand" – these are conversations between educators and children about communication rules and etiquette when interacting with people with disabilities. The sessions will cover important ethical principles and rules to help avoid communication mistakes and foster a comfortable and respectful environment.

During the session, children will learn how to interact with respect, avoid stereotypes, use appropriate language, and create an atmosphere of mutual understanding when communicating with people with disabilities. The talks will be conducted by educators based on materials developed by Superhumans Center and the National Bank.

  • "Coins of Gratitude" competition – an educational initiative where participating educational institutions in the #SuperCoins campaign will create mosaics from collected coins on the theme of gratitude to Ukrainian soldiers defending Ukraine from the enemy. The competition entry can consist of drawings, photographs, or individual elements arranged or decorated with coins.

For reference: Superhumans Center is a modern clinic for prosthetics, rehabilitation, reconstructive surgery, and psychological support for military and civilian casualties of the war in Ukraine. Superhumans is not a business. All services at the clinic are free for patients. The center is funded by donors and partners. The first Superhumans Center was opened in April 2023 near Lviv.
