Ukrainian publisher Creative Publishing has released Contemporary Ukrainian Ceramics, a book exploring the country's modern ceramic art and its connections to centuries-old craft traditions.

The publication brings together 27 participants from across Ukraine, including established design brands, ceramic studios, independent artists and craftspeople.

Featured brands include MAKHNO, GORN, FAINA, Gunia Project, Guculiya, NADRA and Maslo Ceramics. The artistic section presents works by Françoise Oz, Olha Pylnyk, Nina Murashkina and other contemporary artists.

A separate section examines the history of Ukrainian pottery and its regional traditions. Art historian Halyna Istomina explores the development of the craft, zoomorphic motifs and distinctive ceramic traditions from Havarechchyna, Kosiv, Opishnia and Podillia, as well as Vasylkiv majolica.

The book highlights how contemporary Ukrainian ceramicists reinterpret traditional folk motifs while experimenting with shapes, materials, pigments and glazes. Their work combines inherited techniques with modern technologies and new approaches to design.

Contemporary Ukrainian Ceramics is available from Creative Publishing for UAH 2,300.
