Norway has joined the international drone coalition supporting Ukraine, becoming the 18th country to participate in the initiative, the Norwegian Ministry of Defence announced on X.
"Norway is happy to join the international drone drone coalition led by Latvia and the United Kingdom, the same week the coalition marks its one year anniversary. We are building a strong alliance to support Ukraine," the statement reads.
Norwegian Defence Minister Tore Onshuus Sandvik signed the document confirming the country's participation in the coalition.
Norway’s accession is expected to expand financial resources for ordering, producing, and supplying drones to Ukraine.
Latvia initiated the coalition in February 2024, initially bringing together eight countries. The organizers aim to enlist at least 20 nations in total.
In July 2024, the coalition members signed a memorandum to establish a €45 million special fund for drone production for Ukraine.
