Ivan Tkalenko, a 16-year-old pupil of the Odessa Regional Children's and Youth Sports School, was the winner of the international tournament Polish Open Kaliber, which was held in Bialystok on November 25-28.
400 athletes from 13 countries took part in the championship, according to the regional office of the National Olympic Committee.
Ivan Tkalenko (trainers - Irina Vinogradova and Svetlana Skachko) won gold in the air rifle shooting competition among juniors.
He was also first in qualifying, gaining 623 points after sixty shots. In the final, he scored 248.9 points, 2.1 points ahead of the Pole Michal Chojnowski. The Odessa athlete took the lead after the first series (five shots - 51.7 points) and furtherly increased the gap.
