8 athletes from Odessa and the region will represent Ukraine at the Paralympics in Tokyo, which will be held from August 24 to September 5.
The XVI Summer Paralympic Games in Tokyo kick off on 24 August. Representatives of 168 countries of the world will take part in them. Ukrainian athletes will compete in 15 out of 22 sports.
The National Paralympic Team is participating in the Summer Games for the seventh time. Ukraine at these games will be represented by 143 athletes, 8 of whom are from Odessa and the Odessa region:
- Polyansky Roman, Honoured Master of Sports of Ukraine, champion of the XV Summer Paralympic Games 2016 in Rio de Janeiro (rowing)
- Litvinenko Alexander, master of sports of Ukraine of international class, European champion in 2018, bronze medalist of the 2019 World Championship, European champion in 2021 (athletics)
- Panasyuk Konstantin, international master of sports of Ukraine, bronze medalist of the 2017 World Cup, bronze medalist of the 2019 World Cup, two-time silver medalist of the 2021 World Cup (powerlifting)
- Tkachuk Ekaterina, master of sports of Ukraine of international class, European champion in 2018, champion and silver medalist of the 2019 World Championship, champion and three-time bronze medalist of the European Championship in 2021 (swimming)
- Andrey Doroshenko, Honoured Master of Sports of Ukraine, participant of the XIV Summer Paralympic Games of 2012 (London), XV Summer Paralympic Games of 2016 (Rio de Janeiro), silver and bronze medalist of the World Cup 2013, 2014, 2018, World Cup champion 2015 of the year, two-time silver and bronze medalist at the 2018 European Championships, multiple champion and two-time silver medalist at the 2021 World Cup (bullet shooting)

The Ukrainian national team will participate in Tokyo 2020 in 15 of 22 sports. These are badminton, academic rowing, cycling (track, highway), goalball, judo, athletics, table tennis, powerlifting, paracanoe, paratriathlon, swimming, bullet shooting, archery, taekwondo, wheelchair fencing.
Ukraine will debut in three sports: goalball (men's team), badminton, taekwondo, two of which, badminton and taekwondo, were included in the Paralympic Games for the first time.
Paralympic Games in Tokyo will be held without spectators.
