The reconstructed part of the longest berth of the Odessa seaport, the seventh in the Karantinnaya harbour, will be ready for commissioning at the end of August.
Reconstruction of berth No. 7 is one of the largest investment projects of the Odessa port. After the facility is included in the existing production cycle, the stevedoring company Metalsukraine LTD, which operates the facility, will receive a new infrastructure for sea cargo transshipment, equipped with the latest hydraulic engineering technology.
95% of the construction work envisaged by the project has already been completed, according to the Department of Hydraulic Structures and Capital Construction (OGISiKS) of the Odessa branch of the Administration of the Seaports of Ukraine.
The novelty of the project lies in the fact that all utilities were placed on the border of the berth, which made it possible to increase production areas in the rear, to bring the maximum load during storage of goods to 20 tons per square meter and create more maneuvering space for wheeled vehicles.

After the completion of construction work, three portal cranes, which are on the balance sheet of the Odessa Port State Enterprise, will be moved to the reconstructed part. The project for moving the equipment was agreed and approved.
After the reconstruction, the length of the berth will increase by 29 meters due to the change in the configuration of the berthing line of the Karantinnaya harbour - up to 386.5 m. These and other characteristics of the updated berth will provide the possibility of transshipment of general cargo on it in the amount of up to two million tons annually.
