The World Bank has presented an updated Ukraine Rapid Damage and Needs Assessment (RDNA2) report, assessing the damage, losses, and recovery needs of Ukraine caused by Russia's full-scale invasion.
According to the report, the direct damage in the first year of the war amounted to USD 135 billion, and the losses caused amounted to about USD 290 billion.
"The need for reconstruction totals USD 411 billion. The priority is to rebuild critical infrastructure, housing and important social and transport facilities. Here we need the support of international partners, both in the financial and logistical planes.
We are also forming a digital ecosystem that will ensure full transparency and openness of all processes related to the reconstruction. In particular, we are talking about creating an electronic reconstruction management system that will allow international partners and the public to track every stage of the reconstruction projects.

The greatest direct damage was caused in the following areas:
housing - USD 50.4 billion;
transportation - USD 35.7 billion;
trade and industry - USD 10.9 billion;
energy and mining - USD 10.6 billion;
agriculture - USD 8.7 billion.
The transportation sector (over 22% of the total recovery needs), housing (almost 17%), and energy (over 11%) require the most funds for recovery.
The study of damage and recovery needs does not currently include data from the temporarily occupied territories. After their liberation, additional information will be collected there.
The report was created in cooperation with the Government of Ukraine, in particular the Ministry for Communities, Territories and Infrastructure Development, the European Commission and the United Nations (UN).

As a reminder, according to the previous Rapid Assessment of Damage and Needs in Ukraine report, which covered the period from the beginning of the full-scale invasion to June 2022, direct damage amounted to USD 97 billion while the need for recovery made up USD 349 billion.
