For several months, the Pokrovsk direction has remained one of the most difficult in terms of countering Russian forces. Russia’s losses in the area remain consistently high.
According to Commander-in-Chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Oleksandr Syrskyi, in a Facebook post:
"We are calculating and preparing for all possible scenarios of further enemy actions. I am grateful to the servicemen for their effective combat work," Syrskyi wrote.
Syrskyi stated that Russian losses in the Pokrovsk direction are consistently high, especially in terms of manpower. In December, the enemy confirmed daily losses of about 400 soldiers killed or wounded in the area.
It was previously reported that Russian forces are positioned approximately 11 kilometers from the city, prompting local authorities to urge residents to evacuate. Military sources indicate that over 70,000 Russian troops are concentrated in this area. President Zelensky has called for further reinforcement of the defense in this sector.
Meanwhile, media outlets believe that Russian forces are preparing to launch an offensive on Pokrovsk in Donetsk region. This operation could mark the culmination of the Russian offensive in this area.
