The government has adopted a resolution that will allow Ukrainians to marry within the framework of an experimental project using the Diia application.
Previously, due to the inability to meet in person, many couples postponed formalizing their relationships. The process of state registration of marriage is planned to be completely transferred to electronic form. Online marriage is particularly relevant for military personnel and couples who are separated due to the war.
How will marriage in Diia work?
• The engaged couple fills out a marriage registration application through the Diia application.
• A registrar will conduct the wedding ceremony via video call.
• The couple signs the marriage certificate in Diia.
It is worth noting that recently, on the Diia portal, the option to apply for state registration of marriage and immediately choose the place, time, format, and venue for the ceremony became available. In this case, the engaged couple only needed to come to the registry office for the marriage registration itself.
More than 22 thousand Ukrainian couples have already used this service. And after the launch of the aforementioned service, the entire marriage process will be digitized.
Online marriage will not only simplify the lives of Ukrainians but will also become a unique example of an electronic service in the social sphere for other countries.
