The Verkhovna Rada, following a submission by newly appointed Prime Minister Serhii Koretskyi, approved the new composition of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine.
A total of 264 members of parliament voted in favor of dismissing the previous Cabinet and appointing members of the new government during Thursday’s plenary session. The vote was held as a package, except for the ministers of defense and foreign affairs, whose candidacies are submitted by the president.
The votes supporting the new government were distributed as follows: the “Servant of the People” faction – 193; “European Solidarity” – 0; “Batkivshchyna” – 1; “Holos” – 2; the “Dovira” parliamentary group – 17; “For the Future” – 14; “Platform for Life and Peace” – 16; “Restoration of Ukraine” – 14; non-faction MPs – 7.
In particular, the updated Cabinet includes the reappointment of: First Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Energy Denys Shmyhal; Deputy Prime Minister for Humanitarian Policy – Minister of Culture of Ukraine Tetiana Berezhna; Minister of Finance Serhii Marchenko; Minister of Health Viktor Liashko; Minister of Youth and Sports Matvii Bidnyi; and Minister of Social Policy, Family and Unity Denys Uliutin.
At the same time, Vsevolod Chentsov, who previously served as Ukraine’s representative to the European Union, was appointed Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration of Ukraine.
Andrii Butenko, head of the National Agency for Quality Assurance in Higher Education (NAQA), was appointed Minister of Education and Science.
The new Minister for Veterans Affairs is Vitalii Kim, head of the Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration.
The newly reorganized Ministry of Economy and Environment will be headed by Oleksandr Kravchenko, head of the Ukrainian office of McKinsey & Company, while the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food will be headed by Taras Vysotskyi, the current Deputy Minister of Economy.
Thus, the Ministry of Economy, Environment and Agriculture will be divided into two separate ministries.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Communities, Territories and Internally Displaced Persons was headed by MP Vitalii Bezghin from the “Servant of the People” faction, while the Ministry of Reconstruction, Infrastructure and Transport will be led by Kyiv Regional Military Administration head Mykola Kalashnyk.
As a result, the position of Deputy Prime Minister for Ukraine’s Reconstruction – Minister for Development of Communities and Territories no longer exists in the government and has been replaced by two separate ministerial positions.
In addition, Denys Maslov, head of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Legal Policy and a member of the “Servant of the People” faction, was appointed Minister of Justice. Oksana Ferchuk, Deputy Minister of Defense for Digital Development, Digital Transformation and Digitalization, was appointed Minister of Digital Transformation.
The new Minister of Internal Affairs is Ivan Vyhivskyi, head of the National Police.
According to the presidential quota, Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha is expected to be reappointed, while a nomination for the position of Defense Minister has not yet been submitted.
Thus, the following officials did not receive positions in the new government: Taras Kachka, Oleksii Kuleba, Oleksii Sobolev, Nataliia Kalmykova, Oksen Lisovyi, Mykhailo Fedorov, and Ihor Klymenko (who may potentially be nominated for the position of Defense Minister).
