Ukrainian Greco-Roman wrestler Parviz Nasibov claimed the silver medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
In the final, the 25-year-old Ukrainian (up to 67 kg) was defeated by Iranian Said Esmaili Leivesi with a score of 5-6.
Notably, in the Round of 16, Nasibov secured a victory in the final seconds against the fourth-seeded Serbian Mate Nemeš (3-2). In the quarterfinals, Parviz won a tense match against the fifth-seeded Amanat Ismailov from Kyrgyzstan (7-6). In the semifinals, the Ukrainian clinched his spot in the final with a last-minute move (3-3) against the world number one, Azerbaijan's Hasrat Jafarov.
Nasibov is the silver medalist from the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and a two-time bronze medalist at the European Championships (2023, 2024).
Nasibov's medal is the ninth for Ukraine at the Olympics, adding to the tally of three gold, three silver, and three bronze medals.
