At the 25th meeting of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group, scheduled for January 9, discussions will focus on Ukraine's battlefield needs, long-term defense requirements, and coordination through coalitions of forces and resources.
This was reported by the Pentagon's press service.
U.S. Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin departed Washington for Ramstein Air Base in Germany, where he will chair the 25th meeting of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group (UDCG) on January 9.
Since the group's founding in April 2022, these meetings, convened by Austin, have played a crucial role in coordinating international support to help Ukraine defend its sovereignty against Russia's unprovoked aggression, the Pentagon emphasized. They noted that the 25th meeting of this coalition will include approximately 50 countries united in their commitment to assisting Ukraine.
The U.S. Department of Defense called the upcoming meeting "landmark."
During the meeting, Austin will engage with defense ministers from coalition nations and senior military officials from around the world.
The Ramstein discussions will address Ukraine's immediate battlefield needs, long-term defense requirements, and critical coordination conducted through coalitions of forces and resources.
"The meeting will focus on the need to ensure continued delivery of key capabilities including air defense systems, artillery munitions, and armored vehicles, as well as efforts to enhance the defense industrial base," the U.S. Department of Defense stated.
