President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky met with ambassadors of the UNITED24 fundraising platform who came to Kyiv to participate in a summit on the occasion of the second anniversary of its foundation.
The meeting was attended by NASA astronaut Scott Kelly, actor Misha Collins, football players Andriy Shevchenko and Oleksandr Zinchenko, director of photography for Imagine Dragons, UNITED24 ambassadors, Ty Arnold, as well as historian Serhii Plokhy, film director and screenwriter Darius Marder, and director and film producer Doug Liman.
The Head of State thanked everyone involved in the platform for helping our country.
"I hope that we can further rely on your support. Fundraisers and results are important, but the most important thing is the support of people, their morale and resilience," Volodymyr Zelensky said.
Misha Collins emphasized that since his first visit to Ukraine, he has been impressed by the incredible resilience of Ukrainians. He has been telling people everywhere that there is no way Russia can defeat the passion and unity that Ukrainian citizens have shown since the first days of the war.
"Today it is very important to continue sending the message that we will not abandon our friends. We have to stay with Ukraine, and it is very important for Ukrainians to hear this," he said.
The first ambassador of UNITED24, Andriy Shevchenko, noted that, among other things, the example of sports shows how Russians are trying to influence various spheres.
"And this is an important battle that we must win together with our colleagues. After all, sport is a very important mechanism that can be used for various purposes," he said.
American astronaut Scott Kelly emphasized that the funds allocated by the United States for defense support of Ukraine remain in the United States.
"I think it's a huge investment. And people in the United States of America really need to understand this better. This does not mean that we are sending $60 billion to Ukraine. Most of this money is spent in the United States," he explained.
Head of the Presidential Office Andriy Yermak noted that it is important to draw maximum attention to the Global Peace Summit.
"It is extremely important for us to make this Summit a success. We think that these will be real steps to stop the war and establish a just peace on our land, to return our people, to return our illegally deported children. And, of course, your voice and support will be extremely important," emphasized Andriy Yermak.
