Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski has refuted the Russian propaganda claim that Warsaw intends to annex part of Ukraine's territory.
"Russia is lying about supposed Polish plans to annex part of Ukraine's territory. Donbas is Ukraine; Crimea is Ukraine. Lviv, Volyn, the former Eastern Galicia are also Ukraine. So, I repeat this for them to hear in the Kremlin: Lviv is Ukraine," stated the Foreign Minister.
He emphasized that Russian leaders and propagandists want to divide Poles and Ukrainians.
Sikorski noted that Poland has joined the declaration of the G7 countries on mutual long-term commitments regarding Ukraine to enhance the effectiveness of actions. As a neighboring country, a military, humanitarian, and energy center, Warsaw wants to be involved in shaping these commitments rather than standing aside like others.
The Minister highlighted the important role Polish companies should play in the recovery of the Ukrainian economy and infrastructure. He underscored that to support their efforts, the position of the Commissioner for Ukraine Reconstruction has been established. Additionally, Poland will soon launch a representation of the United Nations Office for Project Services.
He stressed that Russia must be held accountable for the harm it has inflicted on Ukraine so far. Effective EU sanctions are an important tool in countering the aggressor.
Russian and Belarusian propaganda, including that of Alexander Lukashenko, have repeatedly claimed that Poland allegedly plans to annex Ukrainian territories.
