Eight people were injured in a Russian overnight attack on the Odessa region on September 29, which damaged residential buildings, an animal shelter, an industrial facility and several other civilian sites.
The State Emergency Service said fires broke out after residential buildings and the animal shelter were hit in the Odessa district. An industrial facility, warehouses, a gymnasium, a dormitory, passenger cars and trucks were also damaged.
The number of injured was initially reported at six before being raised to eight.
More than 190 rescuers were involved in dealing with the consequences of the attack. Emergency crews extinguished all of the fires, although their work was repeatedly interrupted by renewed air-raid alerts.
The Loving Hearts animal shelter was among the sites badly affected. According to the shelter, its entire stock of animal food was destroyed in the attack.
Three dogs and 10 cats were also killed.
Emergency services continued working at the affected locations following the overnight strikes, assessing damage and assisting residents.
