On the eastern front, Russian occupation forces are attempting to break through to the operational space between the city of Pokrovsk and Kostiantynivka in order to launch further active operations. However, Ukraine’s Defense Forces are holding back the Russian forces.
This was reported on television by Viktor Trehubov, spokesperson for the operational-strategic troop grouping Khortytsia.
"The enemy identified Pokrovsk as one of its key objectives as early as last year and made significant efforts to reach it during the winter of this year. That attempt ended very poorly for them. During this summer campaign, they amassed very large forces — over 10,000 personnel and a substantial amount of equipment — just to gain access to the operational space between Pokrovsk and Kostiantynivka and to conduct aggressive actions from there," Trehubov said.
He added that the occupiers are trying to approach Pokrovsk from the eastern side of Myrnohrad, but there is also pressure from other directions.
"Accordingly, the Armed Forces of Ukraine are doing everything to destroy as much enemy manpower as possible there, to bleed dry the large corps the enemy has assembled, and to prevent them from continuing their aggressive actions," Trehubov assured.
At the same time, he reported that on the Novopavlivka axis, the Russian forces are also trying to break through toward the administrative border of Dnipropetrovsk region but has encountered certain difficulties.
"The enemy has faced some problems, because what they hoped to accomplish in perhaps the first weeks of summer did not succeed. They are still fighting in villages near the administrative border with Dnipropetrovsk region," the spokesperson explained.
