Russian forces launched a massive drone strike on the outskirts of Odessa last night. Footage has emerged showing the aftermath of the enemy attack, which ignited large fires at civilian infrastructure sites.
This was reported by the Odesa City Council.
"The enemy attacked the outskirts of Odessa. Civilian infrastructure and commercial facilities are on fire, and vehicles have been damaged," the city council quoted Odessa Mayor Hennadii Trukhanov as saying.
It was also noted that the Russian strikes caused casualties, with the injured receiving medical assistance.
The mayor of Odessa shared a video online showing the consequences of the drone attack. The footage captures burning and completely destroyed buildings, civilian structures reduced to ruins and still ablaze, as well as firefighters with special equipment and emergency responders.
Later, Ukraine’s State Emergency Service (SES) reported that the Russian attack on Odesa region caused "massive fires, with a shopping center and stores burning, and a residential building damaged."
According to preliminary data from the SES, three teenagers were injured.
"More than 70 rescuers participated in the response, with 22 firefighting units involved, along with five volunteers and one additional piece of equipment," the agency stated.
