Russian forces have intensified their actions in the southern part of the Dnieper River island system, attempting to land on Bugaz Island to establish a foothold and cross the Dnieper River in the Kherson region.

This was reported by the spokesperson for the Southern Defense Forces, Vladyslav Voloshin, during a television broadcast, responding to questions about the current situation in the Dnieper basin.

"The enemy is attempting to cross water obstacles and has now opened a 'new' direction. This is the direction where they have become active, and in just a few days, they have made several attempts to land in the river zone – the southern part of the Dnieper island system. The island near the settlement of Kizomys, Bugaz Island, is where the enemy is trying to land, capture a foothold, and cross the Dnieper River from the south," Voloshin explained.

At the same time, the spokesperson assured that the Russian forces have not succeeded, and their attempts have been futile so far.

"Their attempts look like, for example, the enemy trying to cross some waterway (whether it’s a strait or the Dnieper River) on boats. The Defense Forces destroy them. Well, if anyone survives on these islands, they play an improvised 'Robinson Crusoe' game, where the enemy cannot retrieve them, and they are supplied with food, water, and ammunition by drones. After a few days, these Russian soldiers – the so-called Robinsons – either surrender or are destroyed by the Ukrainian Defense Forces," he informed.

According to Voloshin, "these soldiers serve Russian propaganda when they claim that this island or this foothold is already under their control."

"Such cases happen quite often, but I want to assure you that the Ukrainian Defense Forces are holding this direction and are trying to repel all attempts by the enemy to make similar crossings," the spokesperson emphasized.
