Ukraine's Defense Minister Rustem Umerov met with Estonian Prime Minister Kristen Michal during his official visit to Kyiv to discuss defense cooperation.
The discussions focused on key areas, including cybersecurity, the training of Ukrainian military units, and the development of weapons production. Umerov expressed gratitude to Estonia for its significant military, economic, and diplomatic support.
Prime Minister Michal confirmed that Estonia will continue providing aid to Ukraine at 0.25% of its GDP annually. He also emphasized Estonia's willingness to share its expertise in cybersecurity with Ukraine.
Additionally, the importance of preparing and equipping a Ukrainian brigade with Estonian assistance was highlighted. Umerov briefed the Estonian delegation on Ukraine's strategic defense priorities, particularly the focus on developing long-range weapons production, with intensified efforts expected in 2025.
"Russian aggression poses a threat to all of Europe. Only through joint efforts can we overcome this threat and restore peace. Thank you to Estonia for its principled position and solidarity with Ukraine," Umerov stated.
The meeting marks another step toward deepening Ukraine-Estonia defense ties, strengthening regional security, and addressing shared challenges.
