Spanish artist Pablo Valbuena will hold a performance in Kyiv titled "Phantom Poetry," which will take place at three monuments covered with protective structures to shield them from debris, writes The Village.
The performance will occur at the monuments to Volodymyr the Great on Volodymyrska Hill, Mykola Lysenko near the Opera Theater, and Bohdan Khmelnytsky on Sofiivska Square. This project is the next stage of an exhibition that was previously held at the temporary cultural space "Temporary Module" (MOT) on Kontraktova Square in Kyiv and in several other cities.
During the performance, the covered monuments will be illuminated with special devices featuring a pulsating effect and will be accompanied by the voices of eleven Ukrainian poets who have recorded around forty of their own poems, according to the project's organizers, the Don't Take Fake team.
The collection of poems was curated by Ukrainian poet, translator, and literary scholar Ostap Slyvynsky. Among the participants in the project are Luba Yakymchuk, Iryna Tsilik, Olena Huseynova, Artur Dron, Pavlo Korobchuk, Halyna Kruk, and others.
The performance can be seen from November 10th to 12th, from 7:00 PM to 11:00 PM.
"By using modern technologies, we remind people of the importance of preserving history and culture and emphasize that art resists in times of war and preserves the memory of its people," commented Don't Take Fake.
