A survey conducted by the Razumkov Center reveals that only 15% of Ukrainians support the inclusion of women in traditionally male-dominated professions. Respondents were asked what they believe is necessary to address the workforce shortage in Ukraine.

Key findings from the survey are as follows:

  • 54% of respondents believe that reskilling employees and redistributing duties within teams are essential.
  • 52% emphasize the need for programs to attract young professionals and encourage Ukrainians abroad to return to Ukraine.
  • 53% support the development of training and adaptation programs for older workers and adjusting workplaces and conditions for the elderly and disabled.
  • 22% advocate for the automation of production processes.

Regarding workforce shortages at their current workplaces, 66% of men and 55% of women reported a shortage of both skilled and unskilled specialists. Among them, 30% noted a significant shortage of specialists of all qualifications, 24% mentioned a lack of qualified specialists, and 32% reported no shortage of staff.

The survey was conducted from June 6 to 12, 2024, using face-to-face interviews across all regions of Ukraine, except temporarily occupied areas and those with ongoing hostilities. A total of 2,016 respondents aged 18 and older participated, with a theoretical sampling error of no more than 2.3%.
