The Kursk operation of the Defense Forces allowed the large-scale hostilities to be moved to Russian territory and forced the enemy to redeploy its most combat-ready units from other directions. Six months after its initiation, this operation has not lost its significance.

This was stated by Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrskyi, during the Ukraine. Year 2025 forum.

"One of the asymmetric steps of the Ukrainian Defense Forces was the Kursk operation. It not only disrupted the Russian plans to advance into Sumy region and (begin – ed.) the creation of a ‘security zone’ there, but we were the first to move full-scale combat operations onto Russian territory, forcing the enemy to redeploy its most combat-ready military units from other directions. And today, six months after the start, the Kursk operation remains significant. We continue to control several hundred square kilometers of Russian territory, destroying not only Russian but also North Korean forces there," Syrskyi emphasized.

He added that many challenges lie ahead, but Ukraine has a combat-ready army that continues the fight.

"We are aware that difficult times and new challenges await us, but we have the most important thing – a combat-ready army that will continue the fight, and we have a vision of how to endure and achieve a just peace for Ukraine," Syrskyi stressed.
