The festival is visiting more than 200 Ukrainian cities and towns and show the most interesting documentaries from around the world made over the past two years.


The Festival is taking place in a combined (online and offline) format until the end of December in 21 regions of Ukraine: Kyiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhia, Ivano-Frankivsk, Kirovohrad, Lviv, Poltava, Kherson, Chernihiv, Chernivtsi, Ternopil, Volyn, Donetsk, Zhytomyr, Kharkiv, Vinnytsia, Odessa, Sumy, Zakarpattia, Rivne, and Khmelnytsky. 

5 films from the 18th Travelling Docudays UA programme are available at the DOCUSPACE online cinema. The cost of the ticket is UAH 50.

A Colombian Family

After long years of exile in Cuba, Yira returns to her homeland, Colombia, where her mother lives. The peace treaty between FARC rebels and the Colombian government has put an end to the civil war that lasted for decades. In the wake of this event, Yira and her mother Ruby are trying to find their own path to reconciliation. The daughter seeks to regain the family she lost due to different political beliefs, and to take her mother with her. But Ruby has dedicated her life to fighting for human rights amid a horrible situation in the country. The protagonists face a choice: homeland or family?

In French and English with Ukrainian and English subtitles

In this film, the filmmaker Éléonore Weber diverts images of propaganda about the wars in Afghanistan, Iraq and Syria. The author had access to the archive footage of the American and French armed forces, which she used in the film. We see the reality of fighter pilots who pilot helicopters over war zones. They are treated as programmed machines, although they live in constant fear of making a mistake.

43-year-old Damien Samedi lives in a small Wallonian village. Damien is a hard-working man, a loving son, and a caring boyfriend. He’s also been struggling with drug addiction most of his adult life, which only his family know about. Damien has a wonderfully close relationship with his mother, for whom he is still a child. Once again, the protagonist tries to free himself from drug addiction, and his relationship with his mother starts changing.


Things We Dare Not Do

In Spanish with English and Ukrainian subtitles

Arturo is 16. He lives in his native Mexican village where he spends carefree days with the kids, but at night he is left alone with his secret. One day, celebratory fireworks were followed by gunshots. The incident, full of aggressive machismo, pushed Arturo to make a daring step towards coming out to his parents.

Slovakia | 2020 | 87’
In English with Ukrainian & English subtitles

The film raises a topic that is not discussed in society: childbirth trauma. Through the three stories of Melody, Stella and Lucia, who gave birth in different countries, we see the true face of a problem which women keep silent about, due to pressure from society and the medical community.


The partners of the festival in the regions of Ukraine are 43 public organizations and 434 Docudays UA Human Rights Media Education Film Clubs. The schedule of screenings will soon be available on the official website of the Docudays UA Travelling Festival.
