"Mavka: The Forest Song" is based on Lesya Ukrainka's "The Forest Song" and adapted into a family animation genre. The animated film draws inspiration from Slavic myths and legends.

The film was created with the support of the State Film Agency of Ukraine and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). In Ukraine, it is distributed in theaters by FILM.UA Distribution and Kinomania Film Distribution.
