The court has arrested a piece of land, an elite house, vehicles, and cash in the amount of 5.5 million hryvnias belonging to a colonel from the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in Zaporizhzhia, who allegedly profited from the war, according to the State Bureau of Investigations.
In a Friday Telegram post, the SBI reminds that in June 2022, their agents informed about the suspicion of the colonel who headed the special-purpose emergency rescue unit of the State Emergency Service in Zaporizhzhia region and his group of accomplices.
"The individuals were selling fuel allocated by the Sate Emergency Service for eliminating the consequences of missile attacks, demining, and evacuating people. The embezzlement of fuel was so extensive that the official set up a mini gas station on his own property. The amount of state damage exceeds 2.3 million hryvnias. Additionally, current State Emergency Service employees were involved as drivers to transport the fuel," they emphasize in the announcement.
Upon SBI's request, the court has arrested the colonel's land plot measuring 1.9 hectares, an elite house in the coastal zone of Zaporizhzhia with an area of 176 square meters, a Toyota Land Cruiser vehicle, a ZAZ cargo truck, and his bank accounts.
"Mercedes-Benz Actros and DAF CF vehicles have also been seized. Furthermore, the court has arrested over 5.5 million hryvnias in cash (in equivalent)," they highlight in the statement.
Additionally, according to SBI's information, 1 million hryvnias belonging to the colonel's subordinate and closest associate, who helped him steal fuel, has been arrested and transferred to the State Asset Recovery and Management Agency.
