From June 7th to June 16th, the 11th Children KinoFest will take place in Ukraine, the largest Ukrainian film festival for children and adolescents. Traditionally, the event will be held in a hybrid format: festival screenings will take place simultaneously in cinemas in Kyiv, Lviv, Vinnytsia, Zhytomyr, Dnipro, Lutsk, Odessa, Poltava, Khmelnytskyi, and Chernihiv. For online viewing, the organizers have prepared a special program called "When Animals Could Talk."
Screenings in cinemas and online will be, as always, free of charge upon prior registration, which will begin on May 30th.
In cinemas in 10 cities, viewers will be able to watch films from the International Competition, and the best of them will be determined by audience voting. These are seven new films from various European countries for the children's audience:
"Kensuke's Kingdom" (United Kingdom, Luxembourg, France), last year's participant in the main animation festival in Annecy, this year's winner of the British Animation Award and the Children's International Film Festival in New York. It's the story of a boy and his faithful dog who find themselves on a deserted island after a storm.
"Nina and the Hedgehog's Secrets" (France), another participant in the Annecy Animation Festival from the creators of the animated film "The Phantom Boy," a hit of the Children Kinofest in 2016. The main character is a girl who, along with her friend and imaginary hedgehog, tries to find treasure in a factory.
"Tonda, Slavka and the Magical Light" (Hungary, Slovakia, Czech Republic), a fantasy animation about the adventures of a special boy who has been shining since birth, and his neighbor with a magical lantern.

"Kutoppen - På sporet / The Animal Express Detectives" (Norway), an animated adventure in the spirit of Agatha Christie's detectives. The plot revolves around the theft of a valuable invention investigated by a team of friends.
"Puffin Rock" (Ireland), a creation of the Cartoon Saloon studio, behind which are nominations for the Oscars for animated films "Song of the Sea" and "The Breadwinner." This is a story for the youngest about a bird and her friends who save the only egg laid on their island this year from dangers.
"Okedoeibedankt/ OKTHANKSBYE" (Netherlands), a feature film, winner of the youth jury prize at the International Children's Film Festival in Chicago. The main characters are teenagers Jamie and Iman, who escape from a school for the hearing impaired to visit one of the girl's grandmothers.
Another film will be announced later, which will be a surprise movie representing Germany in the international competition. During the traditional retrospective screening of cinema classics, "The Time Masters" (1982) will be shown, a masterpiece of animation from the famous director René Laloux and comic book artist Moebius (who also worked on cult films such as "The Fifth Element" and "Blade Runner"). This is a fantastic film about a boy who gets lost on a wild planet and a space captain trying to save the child.
