The government allocated 17.5 billion hryvnias from the reserve fund of the state budget to strengthen the country's defense capabilities and protect the border. The relevant decision was adopted at the meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine on January 19, 2024.
Specifically, the funds were allocated for the construction of military engineering and technical, fortification structures, and fortification equipment for defensive lines to the Ministry of Defense, the State Agency for Restoration and Development of Infrastructure, as well as regional military administrations.
It is worth noting that earlier, the government allocated over 2.6 billion hryvnias for strengthening defense lines and the border. In 2023, from the reserve fund, over 1.7 billion hryvnias were directed to the construction of fortification structures, especially in the northern and eastern regions.
