On March 28, the Executive Board of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) completed the seventh review of the Extended Fund Facility (EFF) programme for Ukraine.
As a result of the successful review, Ukraine will soon receive the eighth tranche amounting to approximately 400 million USD (300.47 million SDR).
The IMF noted Ukraine's progress in meeting the conditions of the EFF programme as of the end of December 2024. The Ukrainian economy remains resilient, and the performance indicators for the EFF programme remain high despite the full-scale war. Ukraine met all the quantitative performance criteria as of the end of December, the prior actions for this review, and most of the structural benchmarks. The deadlines for some conditions were adjusted in line with current capabilities.
“As a result of the successful review, Ukraine will receive a tranche of about 400 million USD soon. Thus, the total disbursements under the EFF programme will amount to over 10.1 billion USD. I am grateful to the International Monetary Fund for its support and expertise, which help strengthen Ukraine's economic and financial resilience. Together, we continue working on implementing jointly defined reforms,” said Ukraine’s Minister of Finance Serhiy Marchenko.
The government remains committed to implementing reforms and policies to ensure macroeconomic stability and achieve better economic outcomes, even in the conditions of full-scale war. Structural reforms cover public finances, the financial sector, monetary and exchange rate policy, governance, the fight against corruption, and the energy sector.
As a reminder, Ukraine has already received seven tranches under the IMF EFF programme, totaling about 9.8 billion USD out of the planned 15.5 billion USD for the period 2023-2027.
