This week in Tallinn, a meeting of the Steering Group of the IT Coalition, led by Estonia and Luxembourg, took place. The initiative participants and observers summarized the initial equipment deliveries to Ukraine from the IT Coalition and announced new contributions.
During the meeting, Spain announced its intention to join the IT coalition in the near future. Additionally, member countries of the initiative confirmed new contributions totaling 22 million euros from Luxembourg, Iceland, Estonia, and Belgium.
"The work of the IT Coalition is progressing rapidly, and step by step, we are moving towards meeting Ukraine's needs. In early May, the first laptops, monitors, and other communication devices arrived in Ukraine. Estonia is making an additional contribution of 2 million euros. This contribution will be used for the development of the 'Obereg' system, which provides for the conscription process. Together with our partners, we have already managed to address the most urgent needs, but there are still many priority items," said Tuuli Duneton, Deputy Minister of Defense of Estonia.
Before the coalition meeting, a technical session took place where developers from the Innovation Center of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine presented the DELTA situational awareness system to partners. Ukrainian military personnel presented operation planning tools, integration technologies for aerial, maritime, and ground drones, secure chat, and streaming services with embedded artificial intelligence information processing functions.
"Thanks to our partners for their continuous support, new contributions, and quick closure of our military's critical needs. The IT Coalition initiative works in a two-way mode; we share our developments and experience with our partners. Our cooperation brings the use of information technology in combat operations to a new level," noted Katerina Chernogorenko, Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine.
Background: The IT Coalition is a special group of states within the Defense Contact Group of Ukraine ("Ramstein format"), focused on providing support to the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine and the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the field of IT, communications, and cybersecurity. Currently, the coalition consists of 12 countries: Estonia and Luxembourg as lead countries, Belgium, the United Kingdom, Denmark, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Japan, and Ukraine. The initiative has already raised over 58 million euros in financial and material contributions.
