The team of the Ministry of Community Development, Territories, and Infrastructure is working comprehensively on ensuring logistics for medical evacuation: from urgent repairs of roads near the front lines and setting up river crossings to creating special medical trains for evacuation.
Medical trains were created in just a few days at the beginning of March. Over the past two years, 62 medical trains have been delivered, and another 8 will be added by the end of the year. The last 4 trains for the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine were converted from passenger trains to railway facilities a month ago.
"The interiors of the wagons are equipped with new generation medical equipment, which allows not only transportation but also treatment during evacuation. Its purchase is partly carried out by Ukrzaliznytsia, partly with the help of international partners, volunteers, and patrons from Ukraine. We cooperate with various countries and strengthen assistance!
At the same time, we see prospects for the operation of medical trains not only from the front lines to rear hospitals. We are technically ready to launch trains to and across the border for the treatment and rehabilitation of our soldiers. We are working with partners to implement this," commented Vice Prime Minister for the Restoration of Ukraine — Minister of Community Development, Territories, and Infrastructure Oleksandr Kubrakov.
