The Deputy Minister of Economy, Environment, and Agriculture of Ukraine, Denys Bashlyk, met with a delegation from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) to discuss further cooperation plans.
Bashlyk thanked the Japanese side for their active technical, financial, and resource support to Ukraine, briefed them on the work of the new ministry, and highlighted key needs of the agricultural sector.
He emphasized that the major transformation at the ministerial level strengthens Ukraine’s economic positions and will promote the development of the agricultural sector.
The parties discussed potential areas for future cooperation, including the implementation of grants for the urgent recovery of Ukraine’s agricultural sector, completion of equipment transfers funded by grant assistance, and the launch of a new project, “Supporting Small-Scale Horticulture: Increasing Inclusivity for Women Farmers.”
Bashlyk noted that this project is an important step toward enhancing economic opportunities for women, veterans, and internally displaced persons in agriculture, creating conditions for their active participation in agricultural production.
JICA representatives shared updates on the implementation of two phases of emergency support for Ukraine’s agricultural sector and outlined new plans and research being conducted in agriculture.
The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), established in 1974, is a government agency providing technical assistance, knowledge transfer, and infrastructure support.
