Dutch Defense Minister Ruben Brekelmans announced on Sunday that Amsterdam will provide €500 million to Ukraine for the "Drone Line" project.
Dutch Defense Minister Ruben Brekelmans shared this news on social media X after meeting his Ukrainian counterpart, Rustem Umerov, in Kyiv.
"Crucial is our €500 Million for the ‘drone line’: drones Ukraine urgently needs to stop Russia at the frontline," Brekelmans wrote.
He also informed Umerov about a package of accelerated financial support for Ukraine, amounting to €2 million in 2025.
During a bilateral meeting, the parties discussed security issues in both the air and at sea. The Ukrainian side expressed gratitude for the F-16 aircraft provided, which are already safeguarding Ukraine's skies, and informed their Dutch counterparts about further steps to enhance the capabilities of the Ukrainian Air Force.
Other topics included the digitization of Ukraine's Armed Forces. The Netherlands remains an active participant in the IT coalition, playing a key role in the technological transformation of the Ukrainian military.
The Ukrainian side also briefed their partners on the current security situation, the enemy's intentions, and strategic defense priorities for 2025.
"Netherlands is a strategic partner that consistently supports Ukraine at all levels: political, diplomatic, and military. The Netherlands has additionally allocated €3.5 billion, a significant portion of which will go towards providing security assistance to Ukraine in 2025. I am grateful to the government and people of the Netherlands for their resolute support," said Rustem Umerov.
