The Ground Forces require changes and a modern approach to developing the capabilities of soldiers. The UAF Ground Forces must become an elite force.
This was stated by the Commander of the UAF Ground Forces, Mykhailo Drapatyi, in his Telegram post.
According to him, the first step is to change the attitude toward people. Quality training of personnel involves reformatting programs and transforming training centers for faster yet highly professional preparation, in line with the needs of the UAF and the dynamics of the front line.
"The skills and abilities of our backbone—the infantry—must be as practical and applicable as possible, without unnecessary rhetoric. The main carriers of this knowledge will be the sergeant corps with combat experience," he added.
According to Drapatii, the Ground Forces must be prepared for new security challenges, which is impossible without a transparent recruitment model.
"Secondly, it’s about technological superiority in equipping infantry. The UAF Ground Forces must become high-tech, flexible, and adaptive. An elite force. For now, I’ll hold off on details. We will work together and in coordination with the General Staff team, the President of Ukraine, the Ministry of Defense and other ministries, as well as our rear support—volunteers and foundations," he wrote.
Additionally, optimization of management processes is planned.
"We need agility and efficiency in the administrative apparatus. This will be achieved through organizational changes and digitalization, with a focus on logistical support and training," Drapatyi wrote.
He stated that a critical review of the officer corps' time spent on bureaucratic tasks is necessary, with the goal of finding more beneficial applications for the freed-up resources.
"In summary, people, technology, and transparent management will be the focus implemented in the UAF Ground Forces. I have received support for this from the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces. Change is inevitable," he wrote.
It should be noted that on November 29, Brigadier General Mykhailo Drapatyi was appointed Commander of the UAF Ground Forces. Previously, he served as Deputy Chief of the General Staff, participated in the liberation of the Kherson region, took part in the Anti-Terrorist Operation, and defended Mariupol from occupation in 2014.
