The Odessa Sea Commercial Port is changing the currency for payment of its services — this will primarily affect the towing of vessels to the berths.
This was reported to Dumska by the acting director of the port, Oleksiy Myaskovskyi.
“Ukraine is striving to join the European Union, so the base currency will now be the euro, not the dollar. This aligns with our country’s strategy. Initially, the tariff for vessel piloting was set in dollars, but now it is changing to euros. The calculation system for the piloting tariff will remain the same, based on the so-called vessel module — the product of the vessel’s length, width, and side height, multiplied by the port coefficient,” Myaskovskyi noted.
He explained that the new payment rules will take effect on August 1 of this year.
They apply to all foreign vessels, regardless of the company.
