Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky held a meeting with Archbishop of New Justiniana and All Cyprus, His Beatitude George, the head of the Church of Cyprus.

The President thanked His Beatitude and the Church of Cyprus for recognizing the autocephaly of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine.

Zelensky briefed the Archbishop on Ukraine’s efforts and those of its partner countries to achieve a just peace, highlighting constructive negotiations between the Ukrainian and U.S. negotiation teams.

The President also emphasized the importance for Ukraine and Ukrainians of the moral and humanitarian support from the Church of Cyprus, particularly regarding the restoration of religious sites and the return of Ukrainian children abducted by Russia.

Zelensky invited His Beatitude to visit Ukraine, noting that such a visit would be important for the Ukrainian people and for boosting morale.

The Archbishop thanked the President for the invitation and confirmed his willingness to visit Ukraine. He also noted that the President’s visit holds exceptional significance for the Church of Cyprus.
