On the sidelines of the World Economic Forum in Davos, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky met with President of Finland Alexander Stubb to discuss steps towards a just peace and security guarantees.
“Thank you for the latest package of sanctions against the shadow fleet, for many of your concrete steps, for all the aid packages and support for our people,” the Ukrainian leader said.
The key topics of the meeting were the strengthening of Ukraine's defense capabilities, security guarantees, and increased sanctions against Russia. All these steps are necessary to achieve a just and lasting peace, which is a shared goal of Ukraine and Finland; and an invitation to join NATO for our state is a major and most effective security guarantee.
“We will continue supporting Ukraine. There are no questions about it. This is about your independence, your sovereignty and your territorial integrity. We admire your efforts,” the President of Finland emphasized.
Volodymyr Zelensky and Alexander Stubb discussed the preparation of the 27th aid package and Ukraine's current military needs. Special attention was paid to investments in the domestic production of drones, particularly according to the Danish model, and the development of defense cooperation.
The Presidents also agreed on the dates of their next meetings.
