The environmental damage from the pollution of the Bug estuary with sunflower oil, which occurred in October due to an attack by enemy drones on a terminal in Mykolaiv, is almost UAH 40 billion.

This is stated in the message of the Southwestern District State Ecological Inspectorate on Facebook.

The department recalled that on October 16, the tanks of Avery LLC, one of the leading exporters of sunflower oil, were damaged. From damaged tanks, oil got into the water area of the Bug estuary, and the area of pollution was about 750 m².

676 m³ of the pollutant was collected from the water surface.

Inspection specialists conducted a survey and found that the damage caused by water pollution is UAH 39.9 billion.

At the same time, almost 550 m² of land was contaminated with oil. Here, the amount of damage was estimated at UAH 1.6 million.
